Southern Suds® Handmade Soap

Welcome to the original Southern Suds® handmade soaps from the Cotton State and the Heart of Dixie... Alabama. Did you know that most commercial soap bars are not really soap at all? They are actually nothing more than detergent, which can be harsh and drying to the skin. Enjoy the luxurious, rich lather that can only be found in a bar of real handmade soap. Southern Suds® soaps are made from scratch right here in our kitchen. Our soaps are handmade in small batches using the cold process method. They contain high-quality vegetable oils, such as coconut, palm, canola and olive oils with shea and/or cocoa butters added for extra moisturizing and enhanced lathering. Some of our soaps contain skin-nourishing goats milk or coconut milk. In addition to these wonderful, moisturizing oils and butters, many of our soaps contain herbs, botanicals or oatmeal to gently nourish and exfoliate the skin. Some contain powdered herbs, spices, clays and natural pigments for texture and color. Southern Suds® soaps are scented with essential oils or cosmetic-grade fragrance oils and are safe for face and body. All soaps are hand cut and may vary slightly in shape or size. Each bar weighs between 3.5 and 5 ounces. Handmade soap bars are softer than commercial detergent bars, because they do not contain any hardening chemicals. If you properly store your beautiful soap in a draining soap dish between uses, you will find that it will last just as long as the commercial bars.

Fragrance List

Bamboo: Crisp jungle leaves, wild bamboo, aloe and jasmine petals. A clean spa-type fragrance.

Bamboo Sugarcane: A sparkling splash of citrus and the sweet florals of jasmine and rose join branches of green leaves with a dry down of pure sugar sweetness. Very popular.

Berries & Cream: Lusciously deep and dark. This fragrance blends rich notes of raspberry with other fruity-florals. Notes of amber and vanilla provide a warm, sweet bottom. Compare to Bath & Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla.

Blame it on Rio: Perhaps it was the warmth of the sun. Was it the whispered fragrance of orchids on a breeze? The Latin rhythm of a samba under a starry sky? Or maybe the shirtless cabana boy, Paulo? It could have been one too many coconut daiquiris. Who knows? Blame it on Rio. This fragrance is a blend of coconut, pineapple, peaches, kiwi and all things tropical. The coconut has been omitted from the soap, because it tends to turn soaps dark brown. I wanted this bar to be sunny and light. All other products contain the coconut, however.

Chocolat d’Ambre: This unisex fragrance begins with fresh green top notes that quickly lead to a succulent middle of milk chocolate and mild spice, all atop a warm, sweet, resinous base of amber, musk, vanilla, and precious woods. Compare to Bath & Body’s Chocolate Amber.

Coco-Beach Baby: Uplifting blend of juicy ripe peaches and fresh coconut with hints of sweet milk... absolutely incredible summer scent that everyone seems to love! If you like a little buttery coconut with your sunshine, then this one’s for you.

Cranberry Orange: Juicy, sweet orange with a hint of tart cranberries.

Cream Cheese Frosting: Freshly churned butter, buttercream, cream cheese and a hint of butterscotch to add a little warmth. Note: This fragrance may discolor products due to the high content of Madagascar Vanilla, which naturally browns. This discoloration in no way affects the quality of the product.

Crush on You: Sweet bouquet of mandarin, peach, strawberry, current & grapefruit with a base of soft musk & bergamot. Compare to Victoria’s Secret Love Spell.

French Vanilla: So warm with a buttery creaminess that only the finest French chef could create. It speaks the language of love.

Garden Party: Come dusk when the garden sprinklers go on, and the fragrances of fresh cut grass and wild honeysuckle waft through the evening air, there's a party going on, and you're invited. Sit back and watch the fireflies dance in and out amongst the trees and garden flowers. Enjoy the show, and the fragrance. Honeysuckle and fresh cut grass... a beautiful combination.

Ginger Lime: A wonderful lime with a hint of ginger. Very fresh, clean and unisex.

Ginger Orange: An upbeat and spicy fragrance containing of fresh orange and spicy ginger with hints of cinnamon and balsam.

Green Tea: The freshest Oolong green tea leaves are grown in the Tung Ting Mountains, where the altitude is over 6000 feet & the air is clean & crisp. This is a highly aromatic true tea fragrance. This scent is perfect for tea lovers with a "taste" for more expensive, spa types.

Honey, I’m Home: This blend is a perfect marriage of oatmeal, milk, and honey -- mellow, soothing, with just a hint of sweetness -- the comfort food of fragrances.

Iced Tea Twist: A most refreshingly beautiful fragrance. A realistic scent of tea with a twist of lemon. You can almost hear the ice cubes melting.

Lavender Martini: What do you get when you mix lavender with vodka, add a sprig of sage and basil, then kiss with white musk and a soft woodsy base? An upscale, spa-like scent that will make you scream WOWZERS! Definitely NOT your average lavender scent... very clean and absolutely wonderful!

Loco for Cocoa: Top notes of chocolate are lightly underscored with a citrusy fusion of orange, lemon, bergamot, and mandarin, with vanilla, hazelnut, and sweet musk in the drydown. Simply delicious! Compare to Aquolina’s Chocolovers.

Lolita: It's all girl. All innocence... or maybe not. Lolita is a blend of lemon, sugar, orange, cashmere and sandalwood. Great lasting power in body products.

Manuka Lavender: New Zealand Manuka Honey has been beloved for centuries for its amazing healing properties. This high quality fragrance oil is blended with the extracts of freshly harvested lavender buds and a hint of bergamot to give it an intoxicating essence that is soft, yet sweetly compelling. It's the body spa fragrance everyone dreams of.

Mediterranean Fig: Pure essence of Mediterranean Italian Fig sun baked & bursting with fragrance! Earthy essence and, oh, so sensual.

Milk & Honey: Should have named this one "OMG!" Most yummy fragrance ever! What is there to say about a fragrance that smells this sweet? It smells like you've been out on the farm, gathering your sweet honey and milking some cows. Unfortunately, this is a candle fragrance only. Scents the whole house with its fabulous throw.

Mistletoe: This fruity fragrance starts with luscious top notes of ripe blackberry, boysenberry, peach, lemon and raspberry. A floral middle is provided by jasmine and rose maroc, and white musk and real vanilla absolute make for a clean, sweet drydown.

Pink Grapefruit: An exhilarating blend of fresh, juicy grapefruit slices with slight nuances of orange peel. In aromatherapy, grapefruit (particularly pink grapefruit) is noted for brightening up mental processes.

Pumpkin Brulee: This is not your mother's pumpkin pie. Pumpkin Brulee is a delicious aroma of whipped cream and pumpkin.

Raspberry Guava: This is a wonderful summer blend of juicy ripe red raspberries infused with sweet tropical guava. Will have you screaming "YUMMY!"

Sonnet: A day-dreamy fragrance. Picture yourself lying on a quilt in the shade of an old oak reading a book of poetry. Compare with Aqua by Pier One.

Stress Relief: Get instant relief with this balanced, calming blend of Lavender and Sage, touched with a hint of Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Star Anise. A lovely, soft scent that quiets the mind and invigorates the spirit.

Turn Me Loose, Faye: Quite possibly the best men's fragrance we have ever offered. A seductively manly scent with notes of exotic woods, musk, oakmoss and hints of fresh lime on a soft undertone of rose and cyclamen. One whiff, and you won't be able to get close enough to your man. And you'd better keep an eye on Faye... she can be pretty grabby.

Vanilla Oak: Reminiscent of a classic, sophisticated vanilla liqueur, this fragrance is infused with undertones of rich oak. Fascinating and powerful, this strong fragrance is also beautiful.

White Chocolate Karibu: Mouth-watering blend of roasted cashews, mixed gently with rich, buttery honey, then drenched with white chocolate ganache. Delicious!

A fragrance as lovely and free-spirited as Montgomery’s own Zelda Fitzgerald dancing on a breeze.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are not the same as perfume or fragrance oils. Where essential oils are derived from the true plants, perfume oils are artificially created fragrances or contain artificial substances. The chemical composition and aroma of essential oils can provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. These benefits are usually achieved through methods including inhalation and application of the diluted oil to the skin. Essential oils are often used by diluting them with a carrier oil (sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil) and then applying this blend to the skin for absorption. Careful inhalation of the oils can also provide therapeutic benefit as the oil molecules enter the lungs and are absorbed into the bloodstream. I do not recommend the use of essential oils during pregnancy. Please check with your physician before doing so.

Mineral Oil – What You Should Know

Read the labels on commercial lotions, oils and creams, and you will note that most of them contain a high percentage of mineral oil, an inexpensive by-product of petroleum. Mineral oil, with added fragrance, is marketed as “Baby Oil” in the United States and in the United Kingdom. It is commonly used as an ingredient in baby lotions, cold creams, ointments and other pharmaceuticals and low-grade cosmetics. There is some debate about the benefits of using mineral oil as a moisturizer for the skin, and it is widely believed by those of us who handcraft our bath and body products, that mineral oil clogs the pours and does not allow the skin to breathe. Dearly Yours products do not contain mineral oil. We use only the finest, purest oils available to make our wonderful products.

Allergies

Though rare, some people are allergic to certain botanicals, milk, nut oils, bee by-products and other ingredients commonly found in bath and body products. If you should notice any skin irritation after using a Dearly Yours product, please discontinue use immediately.
